Thanks to the commercial and business development that has been taking over the city, Bucaramanga has
positioned itself as a city of congresses and events. This in turn brings a variety of transport, restaurants, shops and lodging options,
especially boutique hotels and hostals. The hotel suggested by the organizaiton is Dann Carlton Hotel:
However, you can find lodging alternatives through

TOURISTIC INFORMATION
A beautiful and safe city with amazing weather, Bucaramanga is the capital of the Santander Department of Colombia.
It’s part of the Andean region too, so its surroundings boast plenty of adventure sports like paragliding and activities
in the Parque Nacional de Chicamocha. It is filled with universities and parks which lend to its relaxed and social nature.
Here you’ll find markets, churches, cultural institutions, and day trips to keep you busy. Plus the nightlife is incredible and the
local Santander cuisine is fabulous (if a little adventurous).
Within Bucaramanga, we recommend to visit its more recognized parks "San Pio" and "La Flora". Local cuissine is recognized around colombia thanks
to some unique dishes and “delicacies” like fritanga, Cabra (goat meat), the best steak served in the famous restaurant Mercagan, and
salty toasted bodies of leaf-cutter ants known as "Hormigas Culonas" for the more daring.
Close to Bucaramanga, we recommend to visit the city of Giron, specially its old town which has been declared heritage. Founded in 1631,
it’s the first Spanish settlement in the Santander region, which is evident in its cobblestone streets, well-preserved whitewashed buildings,
and horse carriages. We also recommend to visit the city of Floridablanca, "the sweet municipality of Colombia", with its many dessert "obleas" factories.
In the outskirts of Bucaramanga, where you will find crops of tobacco, cacao, pineapple, corn, and other crops, you can participate
in different adventure sports as paragliding, rafting, and rappelling. A favorite spot of Bucaramanga residents on weekends is "La Mesa de los Santos",
due to be only around 40 minutes from the city and a little bit cooler, lots of locals have farms or country houses here.
Finally, we recommend Chicamocha National Park, which is easily reached from
Bucaramanga, to enjoy the unique landscape and practice paragliding, in addition to other sports. Chicamocha National Park is one of the
Colombia's parks that is dedicated to ecotourism.
